Stone and surfaces
Stone and surfaces, selected at the block and checked at the slab.
Stone is bought twice: once as a material and once as a piece of setting out. We source directly from the quarry, reserve the block, control the slab selection, produce the cutting drawings and inspect fabrication before anything is crated. Bookmatched panels are numbered and dry laid for approval, and every crate is checked against the setting out before it ships.

How it is controlled
Where the package is held together.
Selection at the quarry
Blocks and slabs are viewed and reserved at source before purchase, with photographs issued for approval where the client cannot attend.
Tested before it ships
Each batch is checked for absorption, porosity and thickness tolerance, and slabs are numbered so what arrives on site matches what was approved.
Setting out before cutting
Cutting and layout drawings are produced and approved so vein direction, joint positions and book matching are decided by the designer.
Breakage allowance planned
Wastage and replacement allowance is agreed at award, because stone found later rarely matches stone bought first.
