How to coordinate MEP with luxury hotel interiors

In a luxury interior, the services are judged by what cannot be seen. That result is decided on a coordination drawing months before anything is installed.

Coordinate the void, then the finish

Duct routes, sprinkler drops, structure and lighting have to be resolved together before the ceiling design is fixed, otherwise the finish absorbs the compromise.

Decide the access strategy early

Every maintainable item needs a route. Agreeing those routes with the operator at design stage prevents access panels appearing in feature ceilings.

Watch the joinery interfaces

Minibars, televisions, lighting controls and bathroom services all pass through joinery. Those penetrations belong on the shop drawings, not on the site drill.

Programme commissioning with finishing

Testing and witnessing take longer than most interior programmes allow. Planning them alongside the finishing works keeps handover on the date the owner announced.
