Creating a reliable handover plan for complex commercial interiors

Handover is a process with a duration, not a date in the last week of the programme.

Start the handover file at the start

Asset data, warranties, test certificates and as-installed drawings are collected as the work proceeds. Assembling them afterwards is how handovers slip.

Commissioning evidence, not commissioning promises

Witnessed results, balancing records and demonstration sign-offs are the evidence that a system works. A completion certificate without them is a statement of intent.

Train the people who will run it

The facilities team needs demonstration of controls, access points and maintenance routines while the installers are still on site.

What a good handover pack contains

  • As-installed drawings for every discipline
  • Commissioning and test records
  • Asset register with locations and warranties
  • Operation and maintenance documentation
  • Approved sample references for future repairs
  • Named aftercare contact and response process

Commercial MEP

Worked example

A project from the register.

Discuss a commercial project

Tell us where the interfaces sit.

Tell us the asset, the scope in question and who else is contracted. We will set out where responsibility should sit and how the interfaces would be controlled.
