Etihad Training Centre

Abu Dhabi, UAE · Delivered · MEP installation package

Scope

HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and pool services

Type

Aviation training facility

Special systems

Survival pool plant, simulator power and cooling

Interfaces

Simulator suppliers, pool systems, training operations

Building services for a specialist aviation training facility combining a water survival training pool, full-motion flight simulators and conventional training and office areas under one envelope.

01Coordination

Two very different environments in one building

A humid pool hall and a high-load simulator hall sit metres apart. Both were coordinated against the same structure without compromising either environment.

  • Separate environmental strategies for pool hall and simulator hall
  • Simulator supplier power, data and cooling requirements coordinated early
  • Structural clearances confirmed for simulator motion envelopes
  • Corrosion-resistant specification set for pool-side services

02Plantroom

Plant for continuous training operation

Plant capacity and redundancy were set around a facility that runs training schedules daily, with access routes sized for filter and pump replacement.

  • Cooling capacity set against simulator and occupancy loads
  • Pool water treatment and dehumidification plant installed and proven
  • Standby and isolation arrangements for continuous operation
  • Maintenance withdrawal space dimensioned before fabrication

03Commissioning

Proven against operational conditions

Systems were commissioned against real operating scenarios — simulators running, pool in use — rather than idle building conditions.

  • Cooling verified with simulator loads running
  • Pool hall humidity and air movement tested in use
  • Fire detection and cause-and-effect witnessed
  • Balancing and controls recorded system by system

04Handover

Handed over ready to train

The facility was handed over with a complete document set and a maintenance team briefed on the specialist systems, not only the conventional ones.

  • As-builts and O&M documentation issued as one package
  • Asset register covering specialist pool and simulator services
  • Operator training on plant, controls and alarms
  • Aftercare support through initial operation
